Marvel’s Iron Fist has been hit by harsh reviews from Rotten Tomatoes based on first six episodes they watched and evaluate in their quote “weighed down by an absence of momentum and originality.”
Previous Marvel Netflix series has been reviewed positively well for Daredevil seasons 1 & 2, Jessica Jones and last year’s entry Luke Cage were rated ‘Fresh’ between 78% and 98%. For Iron Fist however, it currently sits on a ‘Rotten’ rating of 11% as this was only reviewed by the top TV critics and posted on Rotten Tomatoes.
There is also criticism of casting British actor Finn Jones who plays Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist as some backlash the decision of their idea of a White Savior archetype in Asian cultural storyline.
However, Jones has his chance to defend the series claiming he says the critics were only viewing through a ‘specific lens.’ He explained his positive side of the series via Metro.
“Well I think there’s multiple factors. What I will say is these shows are not made for critics, they are first and foremost made for the fans. I also think some of the reviews we saw were seeing the show through a very specific lens, and I think when the fans of the Marvel Netflix world and fans of the comic books view the show through the lens of just wanting to enjoy a superhero show, then they will really enjoy what they see. I think it’s a fantastic show which is really fun and I think it stands up there with the other Defenders’ shows without a doubt.”
When all the episodes are released worldwide, there’s still a chance for Iron Fist to have someone alongside with Jones to defend the series if we either agree with Jones or the top critics’ reviews. Never make a decision to review it good or bad before watching one or more episodes which aren’t released yet. So it will allow us to wait patiently and then review to yourself when all the episodes are out in public.
In my opinion, I have been waiting for Iron Fist for a long time and I am really excited but that doesn’t mean I like the series. I haven’t watched one episode yet! Please, wait until Friday and then we can have our own opinions to ourselves either liking it or not.
